Dodgers' Ramirez ejected after striking out

PHOENIX -- Los Angeles Dodgers star Manny Ramirez hit an early home run, then was ejected his next time up when he slung his bat and helmet after striking out Monday against Arizona.

Ramirez hit a solo home run in the second. The next inning, he took the first two pitches, both of them called strikes by umpire Doug Eddings.

Ramirez swung and missed at the next pitch from Max Scherzer. The Dodgers slugger tossed his bat and helmet to the first-base side of home plate.

Eddings pointed toward the bat and immediately ejected Ramirez, who walked toward the umpire as they briefly exchanged words. Ramirez was tossed for the second time this season and sixth of his career.
